“Global warming” Is Not a Global Crisis - The Manhattan Declaration

ICCC March 20008

We, the scientists and researchers in climate and related fields, economists, policymakers, and business leaders, assembled at Times Square, New York City, participating in the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change, Resolving that scientific questions should be evaluated solely by the scientific method; Affirming that global climate has always changed and always will, independent of the actions of humans, and that carbon dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant but rather a necessity for all life; Recognising that the causes and extent of recently observed climatic change are the subject of intense debates in the climate science community and that oft-repeated assertions of a supposed ‘consensus’ among climate experts are false; Affirming that attempts by governments to legislate costly regulations on industry and individual citizens to encourage CO2 emission reduction will slow development while having no appreciable impact on the future trajectory of global climate change. Such policies will markedly diminish future prosperity and so reduce the ability of societies to adapt to inevitable climate change, thereby increasing, not decreasing, human suffering; Noting that warmer weather is generally less harmful to life on Earth than colder: Hereby declare: Read the rest of the Manhattan Declaration here.

“…It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it… “

By John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel and now with KUSI, San Diego

"It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data back in the late 1990’s to create an allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental wacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda...” Read more of the original blog here. “…there are enormous gaps in the understanding of those making the most strident claims…”

By Reid A. Bryson Ph.D., D.Sc., D.Engr.

"I find that there are enormous gaps in the understanding of those making the most strident claims about climatic change. In order to read the news rationally, the educated reader needs a few keys to quickly sort the patently absurd from the possibly correct.” See the Nonsense Detector story here.

“Time was, people warning the world “Repent - the end is nigh!” were snickered at as fruitcakes….”

By Alan Siddons

"Time was, people warning the world “Repent - the end is nigh!” were snickered at as fruitcakes. Now they own the media and run the schools. How’d that happen?”

“…cooling will be the more damaging; arguably, it is also the most imminent threat…”

By Dr. Bob Carter, Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University, Australia

”...Of the two future climate possibilities, dangerous warming or dangerous cooling, the evidence suggests that cooling will be the more damaging; arguably, it is also the most imminent threat. First, because there has been no measurable warming of global average temperatures since 1998; second, because this lack of warming coincides with empirical computer predictions for cooling and evidence for decreasing solar activity in the first few decades of the 21st century; and third because the current warm interglacial period has already lasted 10 000 years and will inevitably be followed by a glaciation.” See story here. “…all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated.”

By Freeman Dyson, Retired Princeton Physicist

“...all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated. Here I am opposing the holy brotherhood of climate model experts and the crowd of deluded citizens who believe the numbers predicted by the computer models. ... I have studied the climate models and I know what they can do. ... They do a very poor job of describing the clouds, the dust, the chemistry and the biology of fields and farms and forests. They do not begin to describe the real world that we live in.”

“There is no effective way to meaningfully reduce emissions…”

By Alan Greenspan, Former Federal Reserve Chairman

“There is no effective way to meaningfully reduce emissions without negatively impacting a large part of an economy. Net, it is a tax. If the cap is low enough to make a meaningful inroad into CO2 emissions, permits will become expensive and large numbers of companies will experience cost increases that make them less competitive. Jobs will be lost and real incomes of workers constrained.”

“…public support for multi-billion dollar climate change schemes will quickly die”

By Tim Bill and Tom Harrris in the Canada Free Press

"Climate change campaigners are frightened that, if the lid is lifted off the Pandora’s Box of modern day climate science, the vast uncertainties and contradictions in the field will become apparent and public support for multi-billion dollar climate change schemes will quickly die.”
