EPA was created in 1970 to protect the air, land, and waterways of the U.S. from harmful pollution. Thanks in part to the agency’s efforts, Americans today enjoy a vastly cleaner environment - the healthiest in the industrialized world. Yet over the years, EPA has become a rogue agency grasping for ever-more illegitimate power that does little or nothing to protect the environment.
Today’s EPA spends billions of dollars (approximately $9 billion in 2012) imposing senseless regulations. Compliance with its unnecessary rules cost hundreds of billions of dollars more. Today’s EPA bureaucrats spend their time and our money imposing regulations that destroy jobs, cut off America’s vast energy resources from exploration, harm our economy, and suppress freedom and property rights.
According to Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, “The toll our EPA is taking on the country is staggering, putting hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work at a time when millions of people are unemployed and our reliance on foreign sources of energy threatens to compromise the nation’s security. More than 15,000 Americans have signed a petition demanding Congress rein in this rogue agency.”
According to Dr. Jay Lehr, science director of The Heartland Institute and a leading authority on water pollution and environmental protection, “EPA’s budget could safely be cut by 80 percent or more without endangering the environment or human health. Most of what EPA does today could be done better by state government agencies, many of which didn’t exist or had much less expertise back in 1970, when EPA was created.”
The petitions ask Congress to repeal EPA’s authority to regulate carbon dioxide in the name of “global warming” and demand cost-benefit analysis be applied to all environmental regulations. It also insists EPA reform its politicized and unreliable scientific research program and return to sound science and common sense.

California launches website to straighten out climate-change “deniers”

Oh, California. The Golden State consistently receives some of the nation’s lowest marks on their business climate, unemployment rate, tax burden, utility
costs, regulatory environment, and etcetera, not to mention some of the highest rates of state and local spending per capita and the biggest total state debt by a long shot. On top of that, the state government has pretty drastically overestimated their tax revenues of late (maybe all those businesspeople fleeing the state could have something to do with that, hmm?), contributing even more to their debt problems.
With all of these very serious fiscal problems plaguing the world’s ninth-largest economy, what ranks highly on the state government’s to-do list? Climate change go bwahh!
Gov. Jerry Brown said today that “humanity is getting dangerously close to the point of no return” on climate change, and he launched a website criticizing conservatives who dispute its significance.
The website “Climate Change: Just the Facts,” is hosted by Brown’s Office of Planning and Research. It devotes one page to “the denialists” and another to rebutting “common denialist arguments.”
“Global warming’s impact on Lake Tahoe is well documented. It is just one example of how, after decades of pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, humanity is getting dangerously close to the point of no return,” Brown said in a prepared statement. “Those who still deny global warming’s existence should wake up and honestly face the facts.”
By all means, please just go right ahead and keep devoting your state’s resources to denigrating climate “deniers,” it’s not like you haven’t got a nickel to spare or anything.
For pity’s sake, there is no such thing as a serious person who is also a climate-change “denier” (the species is about as fictional as Man-Bear-Pig, if you will). Pretty much everybody acknowledges that climate change is a real thing, and that the planet has been going through cyclical changes of heating and cooling since time immemorial. But yes, a very large body of scientific evidence provides plentiful reason to believe that humanity is not contributing to the process at quite the catastrophic and unsustainable pace at which the highly politicized liberal scientific sects would have us believe.
But no, California is going to keep requiring more green energy standards in their economy, forcibly raising their utility costs and public debt, and then turn around and lecture the rest of us on how we should be doing the same. The mind reels.

Yes just more of the same failed policies and ideology...big government, more handouts, tax the rich and corporations big and small, throw money at green jobs which failed miserably in Europe and has the last 4 years and regulate fossil fuels to drive up energy costs even more. Give the UN more say in US government. But a lot goes unsaid in the brochure. Its desperation time and this is how Chicago politics works. Demonize the opponent, ignore your record, blame anyone else you can and call on your allies in the mainstream media to provide cover for your failing and blunders. Play the rockstar celebrity and go on the media to attract the brain dead and apolitcal and spend billions on a ground game to get out the vote from all those who support your and anyone else living or dead you can find. Have them vote early and often.
As for the plan, this should be the cover of the pamphlet.

Alan Caruba: EPA’s plan for the destruction of the US economy
If there was no other reason to defeat President Obama in November, it would be the planned destruction of what is left of the U.S. economy by the Environmental Protection Agency.
In “A Look Ahead to EPA Regulations for 2012” the minority staff (Republican) of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works has issued a chilling review of a massive rise in the costs of living for all Americans, massive layoffs in all sectors of the economy, and the destruction of the nation’s energy and manufacturing sectors.The report provides a nightmarish look at the regulations that EPA plans to initiate, having put them under cover prior to Election Day in order to hide President Obama’s agenda of attacking the energy sector and businesses large and small.
Here’s a list of the regulations:
Greenhouse gas regulation via the Clean Air Act: An Ozone rule: Hydraulic Fracturing: Florida’s Numeric Nutrient Criteria: EPA’s water guidance under the Clean Water Act: Stormwater regulation: Tier II Gas regulations: Boiler MACT rule: Cement MACT rule: 316(b) Cooling Tower rule: Coal ash: Farm dust regulation: Spill prevention control and Countermeasure rule.
These proposed regulations in aggregate, if enacted - that is to say if not stopped by congressional action based on Republican control of both the House and Senate -would prove disastrous, starting in 2013.
For example, the utterly bogus greenhouse gas regulations are based on the debunked global warming theory that says too much carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is causing the Earth to heat when, in fact, the Earth has been cooling since 1998 and there is zero evidence that CO2 has any impact on the temperature of the planet.
The greenhouse gas regulations would, the report estimates, “cost more than $300 to $400 billion a year, and significantly raise the price of gas at the pump and energy in the home. It’s not just coal plants that will be affected: Under the Clean Air Act, churches, schools, restaurants, hospitals and farms will eventually be regulated.”
If you love poverty, you will love what the EPA intends to impose on the nation.
One astonishingly stupid aspect of greenhouse gas regulation is called the “cow tax” in which ranchers will be required to pay a cost-per-animal permitting fee. More than 37,000 farms and ranches would be subject to greenhouse gas permits at an average cost of $23,000 per permit annually. It would affect more than 90% of the livestock production in America and drive the cost of meat and pork out of sight.
As to regulating ozone, the EPA itself “estimated that its ozone standard would cost $90 billion a year, while other studies have projected that the rule would cost upwards of a trillion dollars and destroy 7.4 million jobs.” Ozone is created and destroyed naturally in the atmosphere by the sun. It is most noticeable over the poles where it has waxed and waned for billions of years. So-called ozone holes show up over active volcanoes. Apparently the EPA wants to regulate the sun and volcanoes.
The technology of hydraulic fracturing occurs well below the water levels and frees up access to natural gas and oil. Naturally, many agencies in the Obama administration are doing whatever they can to shut it down with costly permit and efforts to link it to water contamination. It holds the promise of driving down energy costs nationwide.
If President Obama is reelected, billions of dollars would be imposed on virtually every aspect of life in America, either directly or through the rise of the cost of everything. This reflects the Greens obsession with destroying the greatest economy the world has ever seen, our standards of living and the quality of life for every man, woman and child in America.
Just like Polar Bears, if you stop killing whales, they stop dying in large numbers and the damage “caused” by global warming disappears. (h/t Tom Nelson)
But to be politically correct you still have to blame global warming.
“An institute that tracks the population of Humpback whales that reproduce along Brazil’s coast says the number of the once-threatened mammals has tripled over the last 10 years.
The Humpback Whale Institute says in a news release there are now almost 10,000 humpbacks off the Brazilian coast. In 2002, the institute counted approximately 3,000 whales.
Institute chief Milton Marcondes says the whales’ fat once was used as fuel for public lighting and in construction. Hunting was banned in 1966, when only about 1,000 whales were left.
Marcondes says restoration efforts have helped the species recover in spite of global warming, accidents with boats and fishing nets.”
Global Warming, the mass killer of whales...or was that harpoons? They both look alike ...to climate scientists.

California launches website to straighten out climate-change “deniers”

Oh, California. The Golden State consistently receives some of the nation’s lowest marks on their business climate, unemployment rate, tax burden, utility
costs, regulatory environment, and etcetera, not to mention some of the highest rates of state and local spending per capita and the biggest total state debt by a long shot. On top of that, the state government has pretty drastically overestimated their tax revenues of late (maybe all those businesspeople fleeing the state could have something to do with that, hmm?), contributing even more to their debt problems.
With all of these very serious fiscal problems plaguing the world’s ninth-largest economy, what ranks highly on the state government’s to-do list? Climate change go bwahh!
Gov. Jerry Brown said today that “humanity is getting dangerously close to the point of no return” on climate change, and he launched a website criticizing conservatives who dispute its significance.
The website “Climate Change: Just the Facts,” is hosted by Brown’s Office of Planning and Research. It devotes one page to “the denialists” and another to rebutting “common denialist arguments.”
“Global warming’s impact on Lake Tahoe is well documented. It is just one example of how, after decades of pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, humanity is getting dangerously close to the point of no return,” Brown said in a prepared statement. “Those who still deny global warming’s existence should wake up and honestly face the facts.”
By all means, please just go right ahead and keep devoting your state’s resources to denigrating climate “deniers,” it’s not like you haven’t got a nickel to spare or anything.
For pity’s sake, there is no such thing as a serious person who is also a climate-change “denier” (the species is about as fictional as Man-Bear-Pig, if you will). Pretty much everybody acknowledges that climate change is a real thing, and that the planet has been going through cyclical changes of heating and cooling since time immemorial. But yes, a very large body of scientific evidence provides plentiful reason to believe that humanity is not contributing to the process at quite the catastrophic and unsustainable pace at which the highly politicized liberal scientific sects would have us believe.
But no, California is going to keep requiring more green energy standards in their economy, forcibly raising their utility costs and public debt, and then turn around and lecture the rest of us on how we should be doing the same. The mind reels.

The study found that manmade global warming made the devastating Texas drought and heat wave of 2011… at least 20 times more likely compared to years with similar large-scale weather patterns in the 1960s.
