Gore Reports Snow and Ice Across the World Vanishing Quickly

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, December 14, 2009 (ENS) - Snow and ice across the planet are melting much faster than anticipated, and the cryosphere - the Earth’s ice and snow cover - is very vulnerable to climate change, finds a new report presented today at the United Nations Climate Summit by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

It Is All Just Words To Them

By Steve Goddard

One of the favorite ad homs of alarmists is to accuse climate skeptics of being flat earthers or creationists. Yet, at the same time, they seem to understand nothing about Darwin’s theories which they claim to own.

Corals have survived hundreds of millions of years of CO2 levels 10-20X higher than today, and temperatures as much as 12C higher than today. This information flies right over the head of alarmists, who are convinced that corals will soon be extinct due to minor increases in atmospheric CO2.

The fundamental tenets of Darwin’s theories are that as the environment changes, living creatures migrate, adapt or mutate in order to survive. The weaker ones die off, and as a result the gene pool remains healthy.

Coral reefs have continuously migrated through geologic history - due to climate and sea level changes. There is no reason to believe that they will not continue to do so. Only a flat-earth anti-science alarmist would believe otherwise.

CANBERRA, Australia - Coral is again flourishing in the crater left by the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated by the United States, 54 years after the blast on Bikini Atoll, marine scientists reported Tuesday.

A team of research divers visited Bravo crater - ground zero for the test of a thermonuclear weapon in the remote Marshall Islands on March 1, 1954 - and found large numbers of fish and coral growing, although some species appeared locally extinct
.
“I didn’t know what to expect, some kind of moonscape perhaps. But it was incredible, huge matrices of branching Porites coral had established, creating thriving coral reef habitat,” Zoe Richards, from Australia’s James Cook University, said of the trip to the atoll in the South Pacific.

Ireland - One of coldest Augusts since 1851

By Robert Felix, Iceagenow

31 Aug 11 - Following the coldest June in nearly 40 years and the coldest July in 50 years, this month is now one of the coldest Augusts since records began in 1851.

The last time August temperatures fell so low was in 1986 when Hurricane Charley brought record rainfall and flooding.

“Met Eireann records show temperatures have been up to 1.3C below average this month at all 10 of its stations across the country,” says this article by David Whelan. “The lowest temperature has been a nippy 2.7C in Mullingar, with highest temperatures across the nation ranging from 15-17C, at best.”

The max temperature this summer only managed to reach 25.5C in Co Carlow, on June 3.

The last time Ireland’s peak summer temperature dipped so low was 46 years ago when the top temperature was 25.2C.

Met Eireann said Dublin’s main weather station, at the airport, averaged just 13.8C, the coldest since July 1965, which saw 13.1C.

Any suggestions that the current weather dip is building up for winter were dismissed with Met Eireann saying it has no bearing on what can be expected towards the end of the year.

New Zealand blizzards ‘heaviest in 50 years’

image
New Zealand is under its heaviest snow in decades, with meteorologists describing blizzards in Wellington and Auckland as a once in a lifetime event. Photograph: EPA

Blizzards in New Zealand have grounded flights, closed roads and shut off power in what forecasters are describing as once-in-a-lifetime conditions.

The cities of Wellington and Auckland saw their first snow for decades after an Antarctic blast moved north from South Island at the weekend, with the cold snap predicted to continue until Wednesday.

MetService head forecaster, Peter Kreft, told the New Zealand Press Association: “It’s a once in many decades event. We are probably looking at something like - in terms of extent and severity - maybe 50 years,” he said.

Services across the country were disrupted on Monday, with electricity cut to thousands of homes in Wellington and north of Auckland. Schools, universities and courts were closed across much of the lower South Island.

Flights and mail delivery had to be cancelled as well.Police warned that the snow would freeze overnight and create unsafe driving conditions.

Residents took to the streets with cameras and cheers, enjoying the unusual conditions, while Wellington Zoo veterinarians took advantage by giving Happy Feet, the emperor penguin they found sick and starving on the west coast last June, a chance to enjoy the ice.

Stephen Fry, who is in Wellington filming The Hobbit, described the atmosphere on Twitter. “It’s been an exciting day here in Wellington. Snow. That’s unusual. NZ is same latitude as Melbourne so it’s rare.”

Extreme Climate Events caused by Global Warming that is not happening because of Sulfates!

Climate Sense

Phil Jones and Mike McCracken in a Climategate email exchange show the contempt they have for the public with the alternative theory ready to explain why the current “settled science” theory was bogus. When warming stopped Global Warming became Climate Change and the latest scare is that every major climatic event is classified as “extreme” and caused by the Global Warming that isn’t happening because of sulfate pollution!

image
Enlarged

In any case, if the sulfate hypothesis is right, then your prediction of warming might end up being wrong. I think we have been too readily explaining the slow changes over past decade as a result of variability--that explanation is wearing thin.

I would just suggest, as a backup to your prediction, that you also do some checking on the sulfate issue, just so you might have a quantified explanation in case the prediction is wrong. Otherwise, the Skeptics will be all over us--the world is really cooling, the models are no good, etc. And all this just as the US is about ready to get serious on the issue.

This prophetic exchange was in 2009 and of course warming has stopped and they have cynically wheeled out the new settled science this year . Of course in our new Orwellian world this is now the only version of settled science.

How hot was it????

Alarmists are at it again:

50 States See Record Highs

This article purports to quote the NCDC with their very dubious claim, but I could find no such article there.  How could Oregon and Washington be accurately included?  It has been unusually cool here such that record highs were very unlikely.  Have Alarmists invented a new metric to ‘prove’ Global Warming*, or are they just stretching the truth as usual, or both?

Here is the global data:

Dr. Roy Spencer.

which shows that the global temperature anomaly rose in July to +0.37 degrees C above the satellite era average, continuing a sharp rebound from a recent low earlier this year.  Perhaps surprisingly, the tropics and NH anomalies went DOWN in July, while the SH went UP substantially.  Roy Spencer, PhD points out most correctly that these sharp monthly variations have a lot to do with the amount of heat that the oceans give up each month.  That is what is primarily driving the atmospheric departures from ‘normal.’

----------------

The NRDC, an environmental advocacy group has taken advantage of the hot summer to present a report, using failed climate models to scare the readers about the future. When we had the record cold and snow in winters, we get admonished to not confuse another event or season - that that is weather not climate. But they can’t help themselves when a record heat and dry summer occurs in Texas and Oklahoma to use that as proof of their forecasted warming.

Ireland records coldest June and July in 50 years

Posted on August 2, 2011 by Scottish Sceptic

So much for global warming! Ireland’s summer heatwave is still missing in action – and there’s no sign of it turning up anytime soon.

Experts at Met Eireann, the Irish state weather service, have confirmed the country has just experienced the coldest July in 50 years - this after a similar finding for June.

And there’s little sign of August being much better after the month began with widespread rain across the 32 counties. (Irish Central)

Note: That comes after the warmest ever April and second coldest December since the Little ice Age in 1659.

The BBC should not just peddle fashionable views

Express Editorial

ANYONE who has followed the BBC’s coverage of the climate change debate in any detail will surely be puzzled by a recommendation that it should give less weight to the views of sceptics.

For it does not seem possible that it could give any less weight to those who doubt the strength of the link between carbon emissions and global temperature change, so partial is its approach.

Professor Steve Jones, the author of a report on behalf of the BBC Trust, says the Corporation should not go out of its way to challenge “consensus” views among the elite. That is a dangerous argument and it should be ignored. After all, the BBC has been found severely wanting after adopting just such an approach on other major issues.

For years it marginalised sceptics of mass immigration because a pro-migration consensus existed among the metropolitan elite.  Those who argue Britain would be better off out of the European Union are still marginalised Now it admits that it did not cover the issue properly.

Similarly, those who argue Britain would be better off out of the European Union are still marginalised despite a welter of evidence to support their views and polls showing that at least
half of licence-payers agree. A cosy, pro-Brussels consensus among the leaderships of the major political parties and metropolitan opinion formers has stifled debate.

So the BBC Trust report is exactly wrong. Good journalism should be about testing and scrutinising elites, not uncritically peddling their propaganda to the masses.

Monckton compares climate risk to asteroid

BRITISH climate change sceptic Christopher Monckton says cutting carbon emissions is as necessary as buying a giant cricket bat to whack a wayward asteroid for six.

Lord Monckton argued the world did not need an insurance policy against global warming during a debate at the National Press Club in Canberra today.

“Just in case there might be a risk of a giant asteroid hitting us, we should spend 150 per cent of global GDP from now until forever to try to make sure we have a large cricket bat to knock it out of the way,” he said.

In the London insurance market there was a saying, he said: “If the price of the premium exceeds the cost of the risk - don’t insure.”

Lord Monckton urged Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to dump his “direct action” climate change policy, which includes storing carbon emissions in soil and planting trees instead of a carbon tax.

“There is no need to take any action at all,” he said.

Lord Monckton parodied Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s accent when he spoke about her carbon tax.

“The carbon tax is the wrong solution to a non-problem,” he said, adding people should just sit back and enjoy the sunshine.

“If you were to apply the Gillard method all over the world ... it would take $60,000 per head of the world population ... to (stop) a 0.23 Celsius of global warming.”

Lord Monckton’s debate opponent, economist Richard Denniss from the Australia Institute, argued Australia could “bet the house” that the peer was right or “insure the house in case he’s wrong”.

Difference between climate and weather:

Climate: anything that supports the AGW alarmist hypothesis

Weather: Anything that doesn’t
