Ever since the Supreme Court has (wisely) ruled that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, the number of people who have been made exceptionally nervous has increased nearly exponentially (exponentially is a mathematical term). It is up to science to discover ways of reducing this vile gas, to root out its sources, and suggest interesting ways of scientifically punishing environmental malefactors.
Thus, it follows that it is the duty of every single person to reduce their carbon footprint in every conceivable way, and to do so in the shortest amount of time humanely possible before disaster strikes.
The purpose of this scientific paper, therefore, is to bring to mind a particular activity that had previously been assumed virtuous but under the unerring eye of science has proved to be pernicious. That activity is exercise.
The main source of variation of exhaled pollution (CO2), the intra-person variability, is due to respiration rate (RR). Higher RRs mean more breaths per hour and therefore more pollution added to the atmosphere, and therefore the more likely we are to experience runaway greenhouse effects. Therefore, people with lower RRs have smaller carbon footprints (or lungprints as we should properly say) than those people with higher RRs.
Through the strictest scientific procedures, the same as those used in a myriad of studies of this type, we have conclusively proven that those people who exercise have a carbon foot (or lung) print 14.29% higher than those who, altruistically it turns out, lie around on the couch. Future studies will examine the additional benefits of progressing to a drunken stupor, a state in which minimal oxygen usage is obtained.

August is the wettest and often the muggiest month of the year. Yet, summer heat continues in short supply, continuing a trend that has dominated much of the 21st Century’s opening decade. There have been only 162 days 90 degrees or warmer at Midway Airport over the period from 2000 to 2008. That’s by far the fewest 90-degree temperatures in the opening nine years of any decade on record here since 1930.
This summer’s highest reading to date has been just 91 degrees. That’s unusual. Since 1928, only one year-2000-has failed to record a higher warm-season temperature by Aug. 13.
It is a similar story in Hampton Roads, VA. See that story here.
And this from Rockford, IL from the NWS.

Rockford still waiting for summer. Any lectures on global warming in Rockford will gather little attendence this summer. So far, high temperatures have been capped from entering the 90s.
None of them are in sight through next week either. The longest that Rockford has ever gone without a 90 degree temperature was August 15th occurring in the year 2000. Since Rockford failed to reach 90 degrees yesterday, we are already experiencing a record event and awaiting the new date of record. Rockford has never gone through a summer without a 90 degree temperature. Meteorological summer ends the last day of this month. With the days shortening by several minutes each day, it is not promising for Rockford to see a 90 degree event past this summer.
So if no 90 degree temperature is recorded at Rockford in the next two weeks, another record will probably be set as a year without a ninety.

Only 25% (question 2) of those surveyed thought that global warming was the world’s single biggest environmental problem (multiple responses accepted). This is down from 33% last year.
Only 30% (question 3) trust the things that scientists say about the environment “completely” or “a lot”.
Only 33% (question 8) thought that a rise in the world’s temperatures was caused by “things people do”, down from 41% last year.
Only 33% (question 18) thought that “most scientists” agree with one another about the causes of global warming, and only 33% thought that “most scientists” agree with one another about how much of a threat global warming poses.

"Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt.......great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, ......at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared.”

"The atmospheric greenhouse effect lies at the heart of climate change science. Its very existence is now being challenged. I would have preferred to discuss my views with my professional colleagues in the climatological and environmental sciences. But they will have none of it.
Where does all this nonsense come from? The public believes it because they have faith in scientists. The whole scientist community, by its silence, must bear responsibility for the incredible damage that these unsubstantiated claims will cause to the prosperity of our country.”

"As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking the coastlines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.”

Stephen Colbert Goes After The Sierra Club’s Carl Pope seen on Ecorazzi
America’s most respected right-wing news anchor brings us the truthiness on what’s happening in the world of treehuggers. Of course, we’re talking about Stephen Colbert - who last time gave us a rundown of summer movies “destroying America” - and today goes after the Sierra Club and their executive director, Carl Pope.
You see, Colbert is concerned that organizations like the Sierra Club are forcing Americans to make sacrifices - something he sees as a direct attack on his love for drying his grapes with a hair dryer. And yes, that’s a metaphor. In this hilarious interview, Carl Pope cautiously (and with good humor) navigates the questions put to him - including how he traveled over 2,500 miles from San Franciso to Washington, D.C. for the taping. “Did you travel on the back of a spotted owl?,” Stephen quips. Enjoy the fun in this story and video including the beautifully phrased response to “Is President Bush a ‘green’ president or the ‘greenest’ president?”
Americans for Prosperity
To compare Gore’s challenge to that of John F. Kennedy’s moon landing pledge proves that Gore suffers from illusions of grandeur. Instead of making America more prosperous, Gore wants to bankrupt the American people to fill the pockets of his environmental cronies with money. Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection estimates that “the cost of transforming the nation to so-called clean electricity sources at $1.5 trillion to $3 trillion over 30 years in public and private money.” Gore then explains that: “This is an investment that will pay itself back many times over.” “Investment” is the Orwellian name Big Government politicians use for tax. His so-called investment is effectively a tax hike that will cost Americans more than $3 trillion! The worst part is that Gore challenges the American people to meet his climate goals in 10 years. However, we are not allowed to build more nuclear power or drill for domestic oil!! It is impossible to accomplish what he has proposed without denying most Americans automobiles and reliable electricity. If Al Gore and his alarmists really cared about the American people and wanted to lower our gas prices, they would not handicap our ability to produce domestic sources of energy.
See also the hypocrisy of the Gore clan in this story and video. By the way, Al Gore, who Obama if President wants to make into an environment/energy czar is advising us on hydrogen cars as the way of the future (they only emit water vapor a far more important greenhouse gas). He had these grades in relevant subjects at Vanderbilt (before he left for greener pastures). Natural Sciences 6- D, Natural Sciences 118 C+, Math Avoided Completely, College Boards Physics 488/1000 ( 48.8% ) = F, College Boards Chemistry 519/800 ( 64.8%) = D. No wonder he’s such a noted authority on climate science and atmospheric chemistry.
